It was somethere in Lisbon's Alfama district. We had been wondering a while prior, you know, doing the tourist thing. At some point we came across this band of street performers. Each with his own instrment, but each in perfect harmoney with his three bandmates.
The music was familiar, not the song, the rhythm behind it. Impossible to miss, afterall we'd been listening to it for three years. And so we danced right there in the middle of the street, still holding on to her handbag and my messenger bag.
We dance with love for the rhythm, the ease of practice, some mild discomfort, and perhaps feeling a little self-conscious. It was a wonderful experience, as was that first trip to Lisbon. And it always reminds me that luxury is essentially of the mind.
